Electrical Installation at Trent Furniture

Client

Trent Furniture, Regent Street Industrial Estate, Narborough, Leicester

The Challenge

Trent Furniture required a full electrical and fire alarm installation for their new showroom and office building. The project needed to meet strict building regulations, ensure energy efficiency, and provide a safe, functional environment for employees and customers. The installation also had to accommodate showroom lighting, office power supplies, emergency lighting, and external illumination, all while minimising disruptions to business operations.

The Solution

To address these needs, a comprehensive electrical installation was undertaken, including:

  • Mains Distribution: Installed a new 24-way, 250-amp split-metered distribution board with surge protection, ensuring efficient and regulation-compliant power management.
  • Lighting: Implemented high-efficiency LED lighting throughout, including 13 suspended linear lights in the showroom and 31 LED panels in office spaces.
  • Emergency & External Lighting: Installed emergency lighting solutions, including over-door exit lights and dusk-to-dawn sensor-controlled external lights to enhance safety and compliance.
  • Small Power Solutions: Provided strategically placed power outlets in offices, showroom, kitchen, and store areas, with integrated USB options for modern workspace efficiency.
  • Fire Alarm System: Installed a new twin-wire fire alarm system, meeting Grade A, Category L1 standards for maximum safety.
  • Data & Mechanical Power: Installed CAT 6 cabling infrastructure and dedicated power supplies for IT, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.

The Result

The project successfully provided a safe, energy-efficient, and fully functional electrical infrastructure for Trent Furniture’s new showroom and office. All installations were completed to the highest standards, ensuring reliability and compliance with industry regulations.

Benefits

  • Regulatory Compliance: Met all necessary safety and energy regulations, including Part L2 of the building regulations.
  • Enhanced Safety: Installed emergency lighting, a compliant fire alarm system, and secure power distribution.
  • Improved Efficiency: LED lighting and modern power solutions reduced energy consumption and long-term operational costs.
