EV Charging Management Options

Here are some of the range offered by Rolec EV. Talk to one of our experts to find the best option to suit your specific requirements.

Free to Use

Free-to-use EV charge points are most common for home charging or at workplaces where staff are not required to pay to charge their electric vehicle. Many businesses may also wish to provide free EV charging to their customers, even if only for a limited time. Most of the manufacturers we install have extensive ranges of charging points which support this facility.

Keyswitch Control

The addition of a keyswitch is a simple solution for restricting access to many free-to-use EV charging points. A key is needed in order to either activate the charging socket or in some cases to allow access to it when it is hidden away behind a magnetically locked flap.

Token Mech (PAYG)

This simple solution allows the EV driver to use either coins or tokens (purchased or free-issued) which, when inserted into the charging point, provides them with a predetermined period of EV charging.

Token Operated

Group Manager

These state-of-the-art systems are ideal for providing managed EV charging for fleets, company employees, visitors, residents and/or customers using a unique RFID keyfob/card.

EV charge online

EV CHARGE.ONLINE is designed as a simple to use, simple to manage EV charging system offering a variety of innovative features for both the EV driver and network operator. This versatile, future-proof system offers a simple pay-to-charge solution via the EV driver’s mobile phone.

Load Management

EV LoadManagement comes as standard with some chargers but is an optional advanced software feature that can be applied to the EV GroupManager and VendElectric charging point management systems.

EV LoadManagement is an electricity load management solution for locations requiring multiple EV charging points where the charging points have a higher collective load potential than the electricity supply available.

This system ensures charging facilities are available, even for sites with a limited electricity infrastructure, by temporarily reducing EV charging capacity. When EV drivers disengage from the system, the freed up electricity is redistributed where needed.

The digital display on the charging point or mobile phone provides the EV driver with information relating to what level of charging they will receive.

Control Centre

The EV ControlCentre system has been designed to centrally manage localised multiple EV charging points from a single control panel.

This versatile system allows up to 18 EV charging points/bays to be managed from the control panel, offering either free-to-use or pay-to-use (PAYG) charging options.

FAQs

How long will it take to charge my electric vehicle?

Different charging point models have different charging speeds:

  • Slow EV Charging: Only recommended for emergency charging; it usually takes 6-24+ hours to fully charge a vehicle.
  • Fast/SuperFast EV Charging: The preferred method of charging at home or work; best suited for overnight or top-up charging. Depending on the model it can charge an electric vehicle from flat to 100% in around 2-6 hours.
  • Rapid EV Charging: Rapid DC and AC chargers provide high power direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC). Rapid Charges can charge an electric vehicle to around 80% in 20-30 minutes.

Blaby Electrical will help you find the model that meets your requirements.

Where is the OLEV WCS grant from?

The Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) is a cross-Government, industry-endorsed team based in the Department for Transport, whose core purpose is to support the early market for electric and other ultra low emission vehicles.

The OLEV provides the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) for companies to purchase charging points at a subsidised cost. In return, the Government is given monthly data reports on each EV charging point’s usage for the next three years, enabling them to better understand the current levels of EV usage and any charging requirement trends throughout the UK.
